UK Copper Board Rewards Top Trainers
Copper pipework skills were clearly on show at the national final of the 2010 SkillPLUMB competition, which took place at the beginning of October.  The competition, which showcases the talents of Britain’s best young plumbers, tested the copper skills of the ten students to the limits, at the end of which Lee Patrick, Shane Trevitt and Thomas Smith were judged first, second and third respectively.

New Plumbing Wallcharts on Bending Copper Tube
Plumbing colleges are invited to take advantage of a new resource from the UK Copper Board: a set of two wallcharts that describe in simple terms how to set out and make bends with copper tube.  The new resources have been extremely well received, with plumbing lecturers already requesting extra copies.

Copper to the Fore in World-Class CF Facility
A state-of-the-art Cystic Fibrosis centre being constructed at Sheffield’s Northern General Hospital is taking full advantage of copper’s inherent properties both behind the scenes, for plumbing and electrical applications, and in a visible show of contemporary infection prevention measures.

UK Copper Board at Ecobuild
The UK Copper Board will be exhibiting at the 2010 Ecobuild event, to be held at Earls Court, London from 2nd to 4th March. Ecobuild is the world’s biggest event for sustainable design, construction and the built environment, and the UK Copper Board will be providing information on the contribution that copper makes to sustainable construction.
