11th March has been designated World Plumbing Day by the World Plumbing Council. The theme for this, the first, World Plumbing Day is 'Plumbing - Vital to Global Health'.
It is hoped that “on World Plumbing Day, the world will come to realise that plumbing is essential in protecting both the health of our people and the health of our planet. Where countries have developed plumbing systems, the role of our industry is often taken for granted. In developing countries, many people have yet to discover the real difference that plumbing can make.”

The UK Copper Board says: Copper certainly plays its part in delivering fresh, clean drinking water to many homes, offices, hospitals, hotels and the like, throughout the UK. The installers, the professional plumbers, should take great pride in the work that they do.
